SF6 Gas Dew Point Meter | Detailed introduction of technical principles
The core principle of an SF6 dew point analyzer is to accurately measure, directly or indirectly, the temperature at which water vapor in the gas begins to condense into dew (or frost), i.e., the dew point temperature, and calculate the moisture content under standard conditions based on this.

There are two main implementation methods:
1. Condensation Mirror Method (Direct Measurement): The core is a precisely temperature-controlled mirror. Gas flows through the mirror, and the instrument automatically adjusts its cooling. When the mirror temperature drops to the instant when water vapor becomes saturated and condenses, a high-sensitivity optical sensor detects the change in the mirror's reflectivity. The mirror temperature at this moment is the dew point/frost point temperature. This method has high accuracy and is often used as a benchmark.
2. Sensor Method (Indirect Conversion): This method uses a capacitive or resistive humidity sensor to measure the relative humidity or water vapor partial pressure of the gas. The instrument simultaneously measures the current temperature and pressure of the gas, and automatically calculates and outputs the corresponding dew point temperature value using built-in SF6 gas characteristic parameters and complex formulas.
Finally, based on the measured dew point temperature and gas pressure, the instrument automatically calculates and displays the volume fraction (ppm₀) under standard reference conditions (e.g., 20°C, 101.3 kPa), thus accurately assessing the dryness of SF6 gas. Dew point measurement is based on the principle of a cold mirror. Through semiconductor cold stack cooling, water vapor in the measured gas condenses into water or frost on the mirror surface.
When the two-phase equilibrium of water in the gas is reached, the temperature of the mirror surface at this point is the dew point or frost point of the gas.
Compared to other types of dew point meters, the cold mirror dew point meter provides more accurate dew point temperature measurements, and also features good repeatability, stable and reliable results, and ease of operation.
